Operates 12 commuter rail lines between Chicago and the surrounding six-county area.

 
Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District
Operator of America's last interurban, providing service between Chicago and South Bend, Indiana.
   
Midwest High Speed
Rail Association

A member supported non-profit advocating for fast, frequent and dependable trains linking the entire Midwest.
 
Transit Riders Alliance
Working to unite transit riders, railroad passengers and intercity bus riders into a group powerful enough to change transportation policy at both the state and federal levels.

National Railway Historical Society
Dedicated to supporting and teaching the history of rail transportation as well as preserving historical material and information pertaining to rail transportation.

Shore Line Interurban Historical Society
Dedicated to the study of Chicago's interurbans, streetcar lines, elevated railways and commuter railroads through their quarterly magazine: First & Fastest.

20th Century Railroad Club
Chicago's oldest rail travel group, offering rail-based trips across the country.
 
Operation Lifesaver
A national, nonprofit safety education group dedicated to public safety around trains.
   

Dedicated to preserving and disseminating the historical record of the Illinois Central, its predecessors and successors.
 
Rock Island Technical Society
Dedicated to the study of the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific.

Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society
Dedicated to the preservation and study of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway.


Promoting the restoration, replication, preservation and demonstration of railroading activity and heritage within Hammond and northwestern Indiana. The NWIRPS is working on restoring Nickel Plate Road #624 on display by the Hammond Civic Center.
